We stop here nearly every time we go through Davis, sometimes even when we aren't hungry!! First, their dirty rice is off the hook. That is what we get to take home even when we aren't hungry because it is that good. Today we got crispy fish tacos and barbacoa tacos. Both were so delicious!! The kids got BRC burritos and they loved them. The staff is always friendly and the restaurant and bathrooms are clean. No pics this time- we were hungry and ate everything too quickly.
WOW FACTOR? Yes. Consistently good food and good service. HAVE AGAIN: Huevos rancheros with eggs over medium, black beans, rice and pork (not listed) were very good. Corn tortillas good. Horchata very good.
The tacos here are so so so good, me and friend have been so tired of dining hall food so getting back to our roots was nice for a change and the staff are super nice and the atmosphere reminds me of home.
We got recommended this location from a friend. They did not disappoint. I had a delicious burrito with beef and my hubby got the beef tacos. We have been looking for a new spot to get a quick bite and this place definitely took the spot. The service was extremely fast and nice. They had some tables that you could sit down and relax while you ate your meal. 10/10 we would come again!
Came here several times and I do enjoy their super giant burrito. For $20, you can get a giant burrito that is loaded with meat, cheese, rice, and beans. It's greasy but perfect after a night out of drinking or just if you're hungry. They do have a salsa bar to complement your burrito or other options as well as complimentary chips.
My favorite place to get a burrito in davis. I think it's the best out of the 3 guads here in davis. I always get a super burrito with adobada (11/10). Their condiments/salsa always hit the spot. Their drink selection is like no other & the chips are always available fresh! The service here is really friendly and the food comes out fast, fresh, & hot. Other fan favorites among my friends are super burrito with tripa, birria tacos, al pastor tacos, and al pastor burrito. The place is almost always busy, but tables open up pretty quickly. The staff quickly cleans the tables up for you too. I'd recommend this to anyone wanting mexican food!
The quintessential UC Davis experience is incomplete without Taqueria Guadalajara. As a struggling college student, this landmark ensured you were well-fed, whether it be on their free warm chips and fresh salsas or their delicious food. This was one of the most authentic places that my LA natives and I went to via word of mouth, as Yelp was just beginning to gain popularity. There was also a Davis forum website where Taqueria Guadalajara as one of the top options back then. I had to revisit this place as it brought back fond memories with college friends. I opted to sample their meats with the tacos, as burritos and chimichangas were my college M.O. AL PASTOR: This was our favorite and an absolute solid al pastor, with tender flavorful pork and a hint of pineapple. It was not super greasy and grilled perfectly. ASADA: Nothing beats the classic and I loved the grill flavor on the asada. FISH: Grilled fish was seasoned perfectly for a light taco. SHRIMP: 2-3 pieces of shrimp seasoned and cooked a little past bouncy. CARNITAS: You definitely taste the oil in the fried pork here, but flavor was excellent. BIRRIA: As part of a weekend special, this was a bit drier and gamey than expected. This one may be goat? I'd save the birria for restaurants that specialize in it. ADOBADA: Marinated steak was excellent and tender. True to form, I was full and thirsty for a long time afterwards even if I biked and walked around town. It was definitely a trip down memory lane. Either way, no regrets except for not being able to bring leftovers home!
Really enjoyed the tacos here! I've never seen Adobada (marinated steak) as a meat choice in other Taquerias. It sounded enticing so I decided to try it, along with a carne asada taco. Both were good tacos, but the Adobada definitely packed more flavor! Would definitely recommend trying that one. The salsas were all complimentary and greatly enhanced the flavor of the tacos. Can't miss the free chips + salsa/side bar! Service was relatively quick. If you dine in, a server will bring your order to you. The place was pretty packed on a Friday night, but there was a good amount of seating. Tables were clean too.
Simple and delicious! Saw the amazing reviews for this place and had to give it a try. Ordered the classic carne asada tacos a la carte and they were almost perfect. They had complimentary salsa and tortilla chips and most Mexican restaurants do, and everything they had to offer was delicious! I do wish however that I ordered the Marinated (adobado) Steak instead, but nevertheless I enjoyed my meal. There's a line out the door sometimes but it goes by quick and the service is quick! Lots of seating as well inside. Will definitely return to try some more dishes.
